Default 2.3L to 4.0L

Im kinda new to the Ranger, i was just wondering if it was possible to swap my 4cyl 2.3L 5-speed with a 6cyl 4.0L and keep the same tranny. Dont have the resources to do it now but its a future project, just looking for suggestions.

Yeah...that wont work dude. Replacing the motor & transmission would be quite expensive, unless your doing the work yourself. If a shops doing it, might as well just go buy a new truck with a 4.0l motor. Thats just me though

The 4.0 is a beast, and the M50d-r1 won't hold up to it... If you are still considering swapping to the 4.0 with the trans, make sure you upgrade your axle from the 7.5 to the 8.8. The 7.5 isn't the best for that application.

Thanks for the responds. I've been doing some thinking and I will probably hold out until I get another ranger and park this one in the garage and start rebuilding it.
