almost every motor after so many miles will loose a head gasket, it is normal wear. yes the pre98 heads are more likly to crack. there are some import cars that need gaskets every 30,000 miles. yes the 4.0 does have gaskets that go out more so than some other cars/truck.
very easy to fix but make sure the head is not warped. >.003" flatness
