Default Maintenance On My Truck

I hate to admit this but I had not really paid much attention to "normal" maintenance needs on my truck since I bought it used 4 years ago with 56000 miles on it. I changed the oil regularly but that was about it. Now that I am paying attention I am kicking myself in the butt for not doing this sooner. Right now I am trying to catch up on all the maintenance that should have been done up to 100,000 miles. Better late than never I guess.

So far what I have done (please let me know if I missed anything):

Coolant (which should have been changed at 45,000/75,000/105,000 miles - every 30,000 miles seems excessive) This was done last week at 97,000 miles. Drained, filled with water and cylcled through engine 4 times to make sure 98% of old antifreeze was removed. Word of warning, when you drain the radiator there is still about 5 quarts left in the engine. After filling and draining 4 times that was 98% water but it needs to be accounted for when adding anti-freeze to get to 50-50 mix. Capacity on the coolant system is 13.2 quarts so put 6.6 quarts of antifreeze in and then top with two quarts of water.

I did not see a schedule for changing Power Steering fluid but what I had in there was dark and dirty so I sucked it out and replaced it with fresh Castrol Mercon ATF. I actually did this three times to make sure I got 90-95% of the old power steering fluid out.

Upper and lower ball joints were replaced three-four weeks ago.

Shocks were replaced three-four weeks ago.

Cleaned MAF sensor.

Tried to clean IAC valve but that did not solve the problem so I replaced it with a new one. Now my truck sits at approximately 700 RPM without moving once it is warmed up.

Left to do:

Replace spark plugs and spark plug wires.
Replace brake rotors and brakes.
Replace inner/outer wheel bearings and seals.

That should catch me up on the normal maintenance and replace neglected parts (rotors, brakes, etc.)

If I am reading the transmission code correctly I have a 5R55E 5 speed transmission and per the normal maintenace schedule the fluid should not have to be replaced until 150,000 miles. Seems like a long time between fluid changes. I am thinking about draining the pan and replacing the filter on the next oil change - Is there any benefit to that or is it a waste of money and time? Also, is there any reason I should not do that?

Any suggestions on what else I should do is greatly appreciated.

So here is what I have done on my truck in the last two months:

Replaced fuel filter
Replaced air filter
Replaced upper and lower ball joints and outer tie rods on both sides
Replaced the brake rotors and pads
Replaced the inner/outer wheel bearings and grease seals on both sides
Replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires
Replaced the EGR Valve and DPFE Sensor
Replaced the Idle Air Control Valve (Tried to clean but had to replace)
Cleaned the MAF sensor
Replaced PCV valve
Drained, flushed and filled the cooling system
Drained, flushed, and filled the transmission system and replaced the filter
Drained the rear differential oil, replaced the gasket and refilled.
Sucked out old brake fluid and put in fresh then bled the front brakes until clear fluid was running out. Still need to do the rear brakes but bleed screws are rusted shut.

I think that catches me up to my 100,000 mile maintenance schedule.

I do not know if the truck has more power but it sure seems to be running more smoothly and with less effort than before. Might be my imagination though.

The truck is running pretty good but sometimes it will act like it wants to cut out as I come to a stop but then it catches and idles right around 600-700 RPM when I am completely stopped.

Any idea what might be causing that?

One of the things I replaced. Tried to clean the original but no improvement so I replaced it and saw improvement in idle rpms. Any chance I have a vacuum hose loose?
