ABS Anti-lock Braking System. Maybe you need new brake pads or your rotor is bad, or speed sensor is not working, something with the brakes.

My guess would be a speed sensor. See if you can get the codes pulled.

Does you ABS work? If it does I would bet it's your VSS. It sits on your rear diff.

mine kept doing it, thought it was gunk in the sensor for the brakes, not sure what the problem was but when ford put in the harness from the recall for my cruise control it stoped coming on

Had the same problem in my 95. Pulled the VSS, cleaned it with electrical cleaner, no mo ABS light! (The light still works, but like it's supposed to. Thought I'd better make that clear.)

It's in the rear differential, front side, on top, kinda over the last u-joint on the drive shaft. There's only one bolt holding it in but it's a pain to reach from under the truck. Make sure to clean around it as well as you can before taking it out so no trash falls into the diff.

I had to replace my Brake Pressure Switch on my 2001 Ranger, as it was leaking from the master cylinder. I had problems w/the ABS light coming on for a while, then noticed that my left rear brake was extra touchy on some cold mornings, until the wheel heated up. Also, the ABS would pulse as I turned the wheel and eased into a parking spot. When I put the new Brake Pressure Switch w/the included harness on, the brake isn't touchy, the ABS light hasn't come on, and the pulsing has subsided somewhat. I think that wheel is callin for a wheel cylinder though. It looked a lil rough when I did the brakes last time.
