Exclamation P0172 & P0175 Please HELP!!!

My truck is driving my crazy! I've been trying to figure out what is wrong with my truck. It has a rough idle. Pulsates between 500RPM and 1500RPM when started cold. Its goes up and down for about a minute before the RPMs level out. Sometimes it just dies. Sometimes after driving for a while and i throw it into neutral to began to slow down, the RPM's stay up around 2500 for about 5 seconds after i've came to a complete stop. So far within the past year I've been replacing parts here and there, they include:
-ignition coil
-plugs & wires
-starter
-fuel pump
-fule filter
-MAF sensor
-O2 sensor L & R
-Air Filter
-Fuel injectors
-Coolant/air temp sensor
-Throttle position sensor ordered but not installed

Please help me figure this out. I've thought maybe it is a gasket or maybe I did something wrong while installing the fuel injectors, I just don't know and I want to stop wait sting money!

If that ^^ doesn't fix it try checking your alternator. Mine did EVERYTHING and i mean everything you stated when my alternator started to die.

Thanks a lot! Ill replace the intake gasket. It's fairly inexpensive anyways. Not really sure how to "check" the alternator, but ill look it up at the University of YouTube! ha

Just pull the alternator and have it tested, it needs to come off anyway to swap gaskets. The auto parts stores will test it for free.

Ok! Well I fixed the problem. I went to O'reileys and got a print out of the two codes. At the bottom it gave me what the problems might be. Some of them were only if P0172 & P0175 were present together: engine coolant thermostat, PCM ground wiring, Fule pressure regulator, Fuel Rail/Pressure Damper, & MAF sensor. I narrowed it down to two. The PCM ground wiring or the fuel rail damper. It turned out to be the Damper. I was having trouble with starting every once in a blue moon. After a year it began to get a lot worse. I replaced the starter, fuel pump, plugs wires, ignition coil, throttle sensor, IAC valve, coolant temp sensor, fuel filter, and the fuel injectors. It all came down to the Fuel Rail pressure damper!!!!! Heads up fellas!

This should have no effect on a fuel injected vehicle. The reason you did this on a carburated vehicle was to prime the engine with the carburators accerator pump and set the choke, fuel injection does use these features.

Did you ever figure this out?

I have one also. I have been thru hell with a 210k motor last year and replaced what seems to be everything.
Motor, fuel pump, intake plenum clean out, coil pack, injectors, O2 sensors and probably some other things.

What was odd was that I had initially had a P0171 which was that pesky vacuum leak elbow for PVC, and did a whole tune up. That helped a lot. However it has acted very intermittent and dependent on temperature. Some times mostly around 40 degrees it would take 3 minutes of constant starter motor turning to finally catch and start. But when the engine was warm or it was 50+ it started fine.

Other things happened to it (head gasket issues, collapsed lifter) and summer came that made me realize that a new engine was the way to go. So I dropped in a 90k motor which sadly now is smoking. (Why a 90k motor smokes is beyond me, but it is what it is).

I am now 200 miles into this motor that runs like a dream and the check engine light went off tonight with P0172 and P0175 along with P1000 (which I don't think matters). This makes me ask a couple of questions...

1) What is in common with chadbarga's dilemma here that feels oh so familiar

2) Why did it take almost 200 miles to register a smoker as "Bank 1/2 Rich"?

Thoughts?

I know these are old posts but damn lmao.

I always laugh my ass off when I see people pump the gas on a fuel injected vehicle. like wtf are you doing? if anything, turn the key on and off a few times to build fuel pressure in the lines lol

The common item I see in this thread is an intake gasket. I searched Google for Ford Ranger Bank 1/2 and found this video. Informative.
