Default Best way to improve fuel milage

I got a 4l v 6 4x4 and would like to find different ways to improve my fuel milage, I have been thinking of replacing it with like a 4 cylinder economist engine or getting a computer chip but don't know which one works the best or supercharge it to see if that works.

Rangers arent the best on gas. Your lucky to get the 22 mpg it says on the sticker at the dealership. Only thing you can do is keep your engine and components healthy and clean and keep your foot from trying to put a hole in the floor board. A chip may work idk others will chime in, and a super charger would probably make it worse because theres no way in hell you put a super charger or turbo in a vehicle and not drive like crazy.

Go buy a smart car or be happy with what you got unless you do a lot of engine and other work you will not gain much more MPG...deal with it or go buy a Prius.
