Default cam shaft position sensor on 97

Hi all. I own a 96 ford with a 97 4.0 6 cyl engine. back in august 2011 i had to replace a bad cam shaft position sensor. It drove fine for about two months. Then my inspection was up so i parked it. did some work to it for inspection recently, and now my cam shaft position sensor went bad again (checked the obd codes).

Could anyone tell me what would cause this sensor to go bad again? I dont want to have to keep replacing it. Its a huge pain in my ass.
Thanks in advance for any help.
