Rough idle, missing EGR system
2000 XLT 4.0 OHV, 4x4:
I've had my truck for over 10 years now (I bought it used) and I'm just starting to get the following three error codes: P0401 P0301 P0000 I realized that my truck has no EGR system, yet it has a California emissions sticker. When i bought it from ford the heads were blown; Ford replaced one under warranty, and I replaced the other. It's been running okay but never great. As you can see an image below there is no EGR system/DPFE sensor. I've reset my odbii, but the codes come back as soon as I stop for more than a minute. Any ideas how to fix my truck? I was thinking the coil pack or possibly the fuel injector.  Thanks for your help. Brian

Your truck didn't come with EGR from the factory, neither did mine.
Find the misfire on cylinder 1. Reset the computer. See what comes back. Edit just notice the thread title. I would replace the intake gaskets, they tend to leak and cause a vacuum leak. Giving a bad idle. Also look for split vacuum hoses. The splits like to hide under fitting and inside corners.
