Hi,

I have been chasing down several coolant leaks.
The biggest one was the lower thermostat housing.
Then the heater control valve.
Then the "T" on the other side of the heater core (heater to pipe number 2 as described in the parts books).

The two fittings on the heater core lines basically crumbled apart in my hand. I have attached some pictures of the "T" fitting. The heater control valve was just as bad.

Where else in the heating/cooling system are there fittings made of this material? I want to eliminate it all.

If that was a T-Fitting designed to attach a garden hose, it is not OEM and not required. On the 2005 4.0, the only thing you should have is the hose up to the heater core with the valve on it, and the hose away from the heater core back to the block.

I believe it is stock. The small hose off the "t" went to a small metal line wrapped around the PCV on the drivers valve cover and back to the pass front of the engine. The clamps are formed on. Had to use side cutters to get them off.

Hmm. Was this before or after the valve? I don't have this on my '03 and I can't figure why it would be there.

Valve is on one side of core, the "t" is on the other. Small line leading to PCV. I saw somewhere where this doodad is a result of an EPA mandated rule that is supposed to keep ice from forming in the PCV system. (Yet another why they are on my fecal register)

None the less, still would like to know if there are any more fittings made of this plastic.

Well that's retarded. From the sounds of it, if the valve is closed (off), then there will be not warm coolant to flow through it.
