I left the hood open when the truck was on and no warning lights came on, I was thinkin it was a sensor for a light or somehting, but there isnt a light, anywhere lol

its a hood switch, I grabbed one out of an explorer at the yard and am running an led strip under the hood off of it.

Is there a definite answer on what the "hood switch" actually is? I googled the part number, and wasn't really able to find anything. I tried messing with mine to trigger SOMEthing, and I am unable to get it to do anything. The truck starts fine, goes into gear, doesn't set off the factory alarm when pressed/depressed. I've searched and can't find many people asking about this either. Any ideas?

Lol, I can't get it to do anything, but I'm worried that if I remove it then I'll run into odd problems.

1st pic - Google the 12 digit ford part number stamped into the bracket. I cant read too well or I would do it. If you find out what that bracket is, you will find out what the part itself is. It does look like a switch. Does your truck have a WORKING light under the hood?

2nd pic - That is your cruise control servo. The cable goes to your throttle body. It is the device that converts the electrical signals from the controls and your speed to a mechanical action of opening and closing the throttle.
