Default P0401 code

Had this same code pop up sometime last year, and replacing the DPFE sensor helped. Now today the Check Engine light came back on... hooked up a code reader and P0401 it was.

Could it be that it needs replaced again, or cleaned? Have also heard it could be an EGR valve? What would be the way to clean it, carb cleaner?

Figured it would be the DPFE sensor, so went to Oreilly's first. They didn't have them in stock, so went to Advance next... same thing. Finally to Auto Zone and the very same thing. Finally asked why and well i'll be darned... the DPFE sensor is now a dealer-only item.

Funny, the last time I replaced it it was still being carried by the auto parts stores.... And I absolutely DREAD going to the dealer to get one...

I am going to replace mine as well but I can get them at the local parts store. You may have dealt with someone not knowing what they are doing.

Sounds just right, just looked at Oreilly, Advance and Auto Zone's websites and they were there... just today I had the unfortunate occasion of dealing with some people who have no business working at those places. As Forrest Gump said, "It happens"

I guess my referring to it as a DPFE sensor was no help, it is actually a "EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor". Of course while looking around the actual name was the last thing on my mind...

Found one on Rockauto.com for $20. Played it safe and bought two of them. Oreilly's had theirs priced at around $35, which is what I paid for mine. All in all got 2 for about the price of one...
