is it also possible that the i have a leak on my intake manifold? the only thing i come up with for it running lean is manifold gasket. when i seafoamed it and had the engine off, some smoke came up around from the intake manifold.

also with those heads, roller lifters, and exhaust manifold, did you get any boost in power or did it just smooth out the motor and valve noise?

Anything is possible with the intake leaking, but its a moot point now, as all the upper end gaskets and seals will be replaced when the heads are removed and replaced. Unless of course the intake has a crack in it. Then you have a new problem to deal with in addition to the cracked head(s).

You have never said if your truck is using any water? When my heads were cracked, I did notice the water level went down slowly until I got the heads replaced.

yeah i check it today and it was low on coolent. it has been every now and then low on coolent. not by alot. none in the oil.

dam it, couldnt even make it to 80,000 miles till something major needed to be done. now do i want to pay a mechanic or try to tackle it my self.

uh oh, sounds like i finaly have the excuse to do some performance stuff and i know the exhaust is not going to handle being taken apart so i guess some good exhaust headers and a new exhaust system will be needed.

all around the intake? it prob was coming out the purge valve which is normal.

you prob wont need lifters mine did not need it, I just bought them because I didnt want to find bad one's when I was in the middle of working on it. remember they are $400+ for the whole set.

the Delta cam rocker and push rod kit will extremely help with the noise and I highly recommend it. I did the headers because of the condition of my manifolds. but yes I have noticed a difference in power.

from the intake area. but it will be torn apart so if that is the case it will get fixed.

i know its not a hard deal, no garage to work in and i dont like the idea of opening a motor and have it sit outside open. unless i can get lucky and tear it apart and have it together in one day.

i figure if it gave performance gains id do it. i havent seen much on gains, the company web site says better gas milage and that about it.

I figure if im going to open the motor thats the best time to see about any internal cheap performance mods (cheap as in not boreing it out or maching a block just some drop in stuff).

the exhuast i look at as i have been wanting to re-do. as rusty as things are might as well see about a re-do since the heads will be off, new headers may be needed if it gets to frustrating and the sawzall will get brought out. ive been know to go from 0 to smashing with a hammer in 2.3 seconds.

besides ive been looking for an excuse since i bought it in 2000 to do some exhaust work and performance work.
