Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
I'm a new member and I am hoping that someone can lend advice on a tuner for a 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4. I have been looking around online and not been very successful in finding anything. I am interested in the DiabloSport Predator, or maybe the Superchips Flashpaq. On both websites it only shows that they will work on Rangers up to 2010. Does anyone know if they will work on a 2011? I have emailed both companies and I am still waiting to hear back. I am also open to suggestions on other tuners as well.

Re: Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
Maritime - It sounds like that might be my only option anyway. Superchips e-mailed me back and let me know that they don't have a tuner for my truck and that they aren't sure if there will be one. DiabloSport got back to me and let me know that they don't have a tuner right now, but should in the coming year. It's either a sign for me to hold off or find other options to upgrade.

Re: Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
I would go with the custom tunes from Fred using the SCT X3 unit. You will get better performance than the off the shelf units mentioned. SCT's website mentions it works for 2011's ( http://www.sctflash.com/#2).
Here is Fred's website (many people have used him): http://rogueperformance.com/x3.html
EDIT: Email Fred because his website says 2010 trucks, but I'm wondering if he can still provide the custom tunes for the 2011's. Perhaps he just hasn't updated his site, because the official SCT website says it will work for the 2011's when you do the vehicle selector.

Do you need an aftermarket tuner? Do you have plans for big engine performance modifications?

Re: Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
Logan03CO - Thanks for the link. I had run across his site in the passed, but never really took a good look at it. I sent him an e-mail to find out what my options are. According to the SCT site he is not too far from where I live so that might work in my favor as well.
Mr Jeff - Yes, I am looking at what my options are for a tuner. Right now I don't have plans for any major modifications. I have had the truck for less than a month, but down the road there might be some bigger modifications. Right now, I was looking at a tuner for some small tweaks for improvement.

I just put a superchip cortex in my ranger and all I have to say is WOW well worth the money! Not only did it make a massive difference when on performance mode it also doubles as a code reader and the option to clear codes as well! But back to performance gains I noticed I little change in accel with just standard flash but when in performance mode I can't keep the truck straight and I have 32" mud tires with lunch box locker no brakes just hammer the gas and I'm sideways with smoke pouring out the wheel wells I highly recommend this product to any one. Also take note of my other mods to truck as well not just the superchip can't say if the gas saver mode works yet haven't played with it much but soon. Hope this helps your choice

Re: Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
MadMike - The problem is that Superchips doesn't currently have a tuner that works with a 2011 Ranger Sport. I emailed them about it and they said that they aren't even sure if they are going to come out with one.
I have been in contact with Fred at Rogue Performance as he might be my best bet at finding a tuner. Even he said that he wasn't sure about a tuner for a 2011. I have to get my PCM information to him and he said he will let me know what he can do for me.

Re: Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
Superchips told me that one for a 2010 will not work with my 2011.

Re: Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
I know I'm bringing this thread back from the dead but, has anyone got anywhere with a 2011 4.0 in regards to getting a tuner/tune for it. I'm itching for a little something extra out of my truck. After doing research there's really no clear cut answer on this.... Anybody

Re: Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
i would steer clear of a tuner on something still under warrenty...a tuner will void it

Re: Tuner for 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4
But in essence isn't that the beauty of a tuner? If a problem occurs in the not so distant future while still under warranty. I could flash it back to stock without even getting my hands dirty and the dealership would be non the wiser.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand people who try to "switch" the aftermarket part out for a stock one before bringing the truck in for repair hoping to get it covered by warranty.
It's not Ford's problem - People need to take responsibility for what they have done.
If something would happen to my truck and it was because of an aftermarket part...then I would man up and take care of it.
That's when it's time to suck it up and take care of what broke!
Sometimes you gotta "Pay to Play"!
EDIT:
They can't just void your "entire" warranty because you have something aftermarket on your truck. Now in the case of a tuner - you're essentially screwed, because you can change all sorts of systems & they are all related.
The Magnussen-Moss warranty act states that for the warranty to be voided for a problem, if aftermarket parts are found on the vehicle, the manufacturer must PROVE that the aftermarket parts were the sole cause to the failure. Basically - if you have a lift kit on your truck and go in for an oil leak...they need to PROVE that your lift kit caused the leak.
