Default 2004 4.0 fuel filter change

Hello:
What is the best/correct way to relieve the gas pressure so I can change out my fuel filter? Also, any tricks on how to use the quick release tool?

Thanks!!!!

pull the fuel punp fuse while the truck is running it will die and release the pressure

I never used a tool on my 05 i just used my fingers to compress the clip and pull the line

well it depends on some models too. you can do that or you might have an internal quick disconnect. if it is internal get the tool that is color coded. normally they will come with 5 different ones. then just use the right size for yours. and about fuel pressure, i just pinched the rubber line after the fuel filter with some vice grips.

Ones like this you don't need a special tool.

My 97 has the quick disconnect, they aren't a pain in the ass if you get the tool. But otherwise ha go to the dealer or sit there and look like an idiot. I hate that thing.

I feel your pain. My Dad sat there and watched me try and change it, then I realized what the problem was, he didn't stop laughing at me for the next 3 days.

Looks like I have the same one as STL's with colored ends. So I will squeeze the clips and pull them off. Thanks for the info.
