Default rough idle with popping coming from exhaust

Hopefully someone can help me with my Ranger problem.

I have a 1994 4.0L 6c Auto trans ranger that just got a new Mass Air Flow Sensor, Flue Pump, Battery, and rear brake line. I received a call from the mechanic saying that the truck has a rough idle with popping coming from the tailpipe. He said that it was probably something to do with the exhaust valve/gasket. He did not fix that problem citing that he would need to take the engine apart and said it was too much money and not worth it because it was probably just built up carbon. Is there anyway i can get rid of this build up carbon and return the truck to normal. Oh it just started happening like a week ago. Thanks.

Coupla things to try . First one is fun. The Italian tuneup. Put the stick in 2 and take a 1/2 hr run up the local highway. You are trying to decarbonize the combustion chambers. Also there is a process called a hot soak where after the IT, you pull the plugs and pour solvent into the cylinders . Put the plugs back in let it sit over night. Remove the plugs, lay rags on the holes and crank the engine over to expell solvent. Also there is sucking solvents or plain water into the vacuum , but this runs the risk of hydrolocking . Last but mot least, run a compression test. If you have a low cylinder, then most likely, it is a burned exhaust valve.

what kind of solvent? also i noticed when driving in drive that the car violently vibrates around 70mph but only when the accelerator is down, dont know if this is cause of the carbon or because of something else.

I would use Seafoam carbon cleaner, or Chem Tool B12 You prolly should wait until just before an oil change.
