4.0 smoke from right side of block. Please Help!
Hey guys. My name is Josh. I am new to the forums, but not new to Ford Rangers. I have been reading the threads on here for a time and haven't really had a reason to post, until now anyway.
I have a 1998 Ford Ranger 4.0. For the last month or so I have been smelling a very wierd smell from inside the cab. It smells like burning electrical wires. Well, today, after changing my oil, I took it for a drive. After this, when I opened the hood to check my oil level, a large cloud of white smoke came out. The smoke is coming from the right side of the engine block, near the oil fill tube. When the truck is running it smokes consistently. When you turn the truck off, a large puff of white smoke is emitted from this area. The burning electrical wire smell is very strong in the area where the smoke is coming from.
I have no idea what this problem could be and am really worried as an electrical wire smell accompanied by smoke is not a particuarlly good thing. Any help diagnosing this problem would be greatly appreciated.
