My limiter now is 86mph due to me being geared 4% lower than the truck originally was...truck thinks it's going 91/92 when in reality it's going 86. I found this out by accident and have hit it maybe three, four times by accident and once on purpose. I often wonder WHY people wish to go faster than the governed limit on the street. Shit, why anyone would want to be going close to the limit is rediculous enough.

I kind of agree and kinda not. I live in BFE Montana for school, and there are times you need as much speed as you can to get around the tractor trailers. I'm not talking about passing 5 cars at a time, that's dumb, but sometimes having the speed to safely and quickly get around the truck is helpful, and the speed limits here are 75 on most every freeway and highway. But a crowded interstate you really shouldn't be hitting those speeds.

If you need to go 100mph to pass a tractor trailer, then I think logic would tell me it is not a good time to be passing him.

I have never hit 100 to pass a tractor trailer, I have hit 90. Mind you I don't do it often, that is usually because I am trying to get ahead of the truck before a major hill or when I am trying to follow someone to a specific place, and they are being stupid and doing 100 around the truck. Most of the time I never reach a speed over 85 when passing.

As an over the road truck driver I DO appreciate you gettin on past me so I can get out and around the 65mph trucks. Not that I'm advocating excessive speeds, but....
I've had my 04 Ranger way deep past the speedometer. My tires are rated for 150MPH suspension is stock with upgraded shocks. Why?? well cause I can. And its not uncommon to see speeds of over 100 on I35.

Lol yeah, The other thing is I don't want to be sitting next to a truck any longer than I have to. I'm sure you hate that too Stumblefoot.

yes, when I have the cruise set at around 73 in my Kenworth, coming up on a slower company truck (governed @ 65 or slower) I really do appreciate people getting on around me.And NO I dont like folks just sitting beside me for miles & miles. Even if Im OK staying in my lane. If you are fast enough to catch me, your fast enough to go around. But this forum isnt for drivers ed. Although I might start a thread....
