Post Help with Cam Sensor on a 1995!!

The other day the check engine light came on so I took it to auto zone to see whats up. One of the problems is with the Camshaft Sensor which needs replaced. I know it's behind the engine in front of the fire wall but I can't find its actual position or where its located. Can any one tell my where the sensor is actually located and how can I get to it to replace it? Maybe save me $190. Please help!

Thanks

According to my Haynes manual:

On 3.0L and 4.0L (2000 and later) engines, the camshaft position sensor is located behind the intake manifold on the top surface of the cylinder block where the distributor was on earlier models.

you have to remove the upper intake and its still a pain in the f-ing a...

if you remove the lower intake then its cake but its not needed to do. also if you have a body lift it really helps.

Now I was doing a motor rebuild but here is the 4.0L with the lower and upper intake gone and valve covers gone and valve train gone. you can clearly see the sensor this way you know where your looking, remove the 2 bolts at top to remove the sensor, then there is a bolt and washer lower holding down the whole unit. REPLACE the whole unit with the sensor those bearings are not the best.

make sure engine is TDC before putting the whole thing in if you go that route. This is not required if you just replace the sensor.

Yup yup. Much easier on my fathers 5.0 Explorer. All you had to remove to get to it was the coil packs.

OK, so I'm having problems with my cam sensor. I removed the upper intake and for my surprise I found that they gave me the wrong type of sensor. My truck has a the connector looking upward like a 90 degree angle and the plug has the holding clips on each sides. I've been up and down trying to get the sensor, but they keep offering me the one with the connector looking sideways and with the holding clip for the harness on the top.
Today I called Ford and they told me that it's discontinued. Now what?

Help please!!!!!
