Default 3.0L to 4.0L conversion. Possible?

Is it possible to swap out my 3.0L in my 00' Ranger to the larger 4.0L? If so, whats needed?

Very possible. You'd need the complete engine with the engine harness, PCM, Y-pipe w/cats, radiator hoses, complete transmission, clutch if it's a manual. Probably also need the throttle cable and cruise cable if equipped. Save yourself some grief and get it all from the same 2000 donor. You'd need to have a Ford dealer "introduce" the 4.0 PCM to your truck's PATS Module unless you also transfer the PATS Module over from the same donor.

yep what I said in more words

if you are looking for more power the 4.0 is a great motor, if you don't mind the work swap in a 4.0 SOHC or a 5.0..even more work but in all the overall work is about the same

I'm just looking for more power to tow my Mustang. A 3.0 will not get the job done. When I pull my jet-ski it feels like i'm pulling the titanic.. I could only imagine what a car would do.
