Default faint metal grinding sound coming from engine????

When the truck is in neutral (it might happen when I'm driving too who knows?) and I rev the engine to about 2500 RPM I hear a very faint sound coming from the engine bay. It almost sounds like a chain being dragged across concrete.
A while ago I had a random misfire code and you could sort of feel the misfire but I unplugged the bat and the CEL went away with the misfire. I'm not sure but it might be related.
Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Also: I read on another site that the timing chain tensioner or something like that is a problem on 4.0s prior to '03. just a possibility i suppose.

I heard somewhere that the 4.0s have a rear timing chain is this true? if so I'm guessing the engine needs to be pulled to change it ?

yeah the one head has the cam in the rear. I have been told its nothing to worry about. Unless the tensioner breaks, nothing will happen.
