i have a 2002 3.0L flex fuel. looking into swapping it out for a 4.0. should i buy all the parts i need separate or look for a donor truck to get most of the parts from? i definitely want to get a remanufactured engine because i want the warranty and same with the tranny. but as far as all the other parts go that i would need for the swap what would be the best route? thanks guys.

I would get the whole thing, instead of piecing it together, that way you know you have everything you need and dont have to scramble looking for individual parts.

Also. If your have a manual trans get a donor that is a manual, if you have a auto get an auto donor.

I have a 86 Bronco II but have recently swapped in a 4.0L engine from a 93 Explorer. It is a manual M5OD transmission from a 98 Explorer. I am also a member of the Bronco II chat room but since I now have a 4.0L engine I am searching for information on this engine as used in the Bronco II/Ranger platform. I worked for Ford within the airconditioning department for 33 years, retiring in 2004.

Sell what you have and buy a 4.0. If you go ahead with the swap, your truck will be worth nothing really. Not many people want a truck that has undergone a whole engine swap. You will save more money, hell maybe even profit, if you sell your 3.0 and buy a 4.0 ready to go.
