I know for sure that the air intake manifold on a mustang 4.0 sohc is made of aluminum. Meanwhile the air intake manifold on a Ranger 4.0 sohc is made of plastic. From what I understand that is the main difference that I could see just looking at both of them.

My engine came from an 08 mustang. The mustang uses a much smaller throttle body and fly by wire throttle.

Rebuilt the 8.8 with Richmond 4.10 gears, Timkin bearings and rebuilt the Trac-lok, 245/70/16 Michelin-X Radial LT2
18 mpg, all city driving. 03 Rangers don't have egr.

From what I heard the ranger 4.0 is tuned for more low end, whereas the 4.0 mustang has more top end.
