Default Ohv engine any good?

The research I've been doing isn't turning up much. Is the 4.0 ohv engine as reliable, and does it last as long as the sohc 4.0 engine?

I am currently looking at a 2000 ranger with the 4.0 ohv, I wanted to know if I should avoid this engine all together or is just as good as the new sohc engine? Thanks in advance

i'm on 201k, with no major engine work. just oil changes, an alt, battery and starter. rev limiter at almost every shift.

Well, I think that's exactly the answer I was looking for, I guess that it all comes down to maintaince. I'll go have a look this afternoon, and hopefully be buying this one, then my threads can be about mods or having fun with them instead of buying one. Lol thanks everyone
