Default 4.0 4x4 auto gas milage

Before you say it, I have searched and I keeping getting mixed messages, or can't tell if what I'm reading is accurate.

So saying that, what kind of gas milage could I expect out of a 4.0 4x4 auto magic ranger. It's an 05, xl, regular cab if that helps. I drive mainly city and my driving habits are typical.

If you drive easy, no harsh take offs and keep the rpm's under 2000 you get the most out of it.

Do you have a 5 speed or an automatic? Either way, are you only going 45 when you finally hit your final gear?

I'd say keep it under 2500. Last fill up on my old ass 4.0 was 16.5. Best was like 21 if I remember right.

I don't have it, im looking at buying one, trying to get an idea on what i would get in it, I get like 21 ave city in my current ranger but I want 4x4, I'm getting the feeling I'd get around 14-15 city. Not bad

I have an 07 4.0 auto. Never have checked city mileage but the best I`ve ever gotten on the highway is 22.5. Oh and I have 4.10 l/s rear end.

I have the 5 speed automatic and O/D shifts in at 43 mph. I found that keeping it at 2000 rpms or lower is where I gain the best fuel mileage drivng around town. It works for me and I'm sticking with it!!
