Default Top Overhaul Question

My dad is considering doing a top overhaul on his 4.0 Liter OHV engine.
He has a 1991 Ford Ranger with the 4.0L OHV Engine.

He's doing the overhaul because
1: Hes loosing coolant into Unknown (suspect oil?)
1a: He suspects he has a cracked head.

2: Also, his engine is ticking, he and other mechanics weve talked to agree that the ticking, is a lifter not getting enough oil, or is worn out.

3: His oil pressure is 20psi instead of 40psi

I understand that engine uses hydraulic lifters with NO rollers
I understand that the engine oils recently reduced the ammount of "zinc" in the oil, wich causes nonroller lifters to wear excessivly.

1: He is looking at installing lifters with rollers, and wants to know
if they will be hydraulic or solid lifters.

2: If he installs roller lifters, will he have to install diffrent size pushrods to compensate?

3: Does anyone have anything ealse that we need to consider, or think about? or any experianced advice on a 4.0L OHV top overhaul?
