Default Stuck on defrost

Several months ago I was working inside the front passenger side wheel well, I had to pull that plastic lining off that has the black sphere thing connected to it. When I pulled on the plastic lining I heard a hissing sound for a little bit then it stopped. Ever since my truck is stuck on defrost. Today I finally decided to look at it and the 2 hoses connected to the sphere were still connected and one hose had vacuum and one did not (not sure if that is normal) then I saw a thin hose just hanging their. I looked around to find where it went and think I found it. It is kinda straight behind the sphere, it was like a small cylinder thing with am arm or something behind that you can push in then it pops out. So I put the hose back on thinking that was the problem but it is still stuck on defrost. If that hose was the problem should all the vents work right away or does it take a little bit to start working? I haven't heard any hissing sounds like a leak anywhere. Is there other places I can look that may be a problem? I have a 2001 Ranger 4.0.

There is a vacuum line that controls yer hubs and vent selection right in the corner of yer fender up front on the passenger side

that black sphere is the vacuum reservoir for the hvac. if there is a line off of it, the default position for loss of vacuum is defrost. so look over that sphere again. there should be a line broken or not hooked up.
