anybody know how to get more power out of a 4.0L
just wondered if there was any way to get some more power out of my 4.0L, driving the other day and my buddies 1980-somthing caravan smoked me could not catch him, till i got a run at him, And i never heard the end of it...

Ya 33" tires with the wrong gear ratio was your problem

the rear end gear is 3.73.
how would i adjust my gearing

Yeah...you need at least 4.10's. Axle swaps is cheapest.

my first suggestion is a K&N cold air intake, it'll improve your gas mileage and give you a few more horsepower.....

Yeah....front and rear axle swaps with junkyard 4.10 axles is cheapest when compared to gear swapping your existing axles. Gear swapping can be $1200. Axle swapping can be $400 tops. If you plan on bigger tires down the road, swap to 4.56 gears. Better and smarter for the long run.

It's a truck you are not supposed to be racing right???? ask him to join for a small/slow ride on a mud pit..... then drink a beer while seeing his caravan slowly sink in the mud...

but for the axel swap should i go with the 4.10 or the 4.56, also witch of the 2 is better for towing..

can't get 4.56 stock....4.10 is the deepest from a junkyard axle.

Then gear swap it to 4.56....rpms on highway will be higher, but the truck will be far more drivable. And 4.56 is minimum needed for 35's.
