Dude. You have an 8.8 already. Just get some 4.10 gears and install them or find a 4x4 ranger with a axle tag reading 4L10 that's code for 4.10 limited slip, there a dime a dozen at my yard.

Bigger gear ratios dont make your trucks more powerful, just makes them work harder to be a little faster... There are cheaper ways to get that extra zazz. Throttle body spacer, CAI, headers, exhaust, low volume methanol injection kits. All but exhaust are under $300.

Do you know what you're talking about? When larger tires are bolted on the truck, the effective gear ratio is dropped. Lets take my truck for example...stock is 30.5" tires and 4.10 gears. I put 35's on the truck, that changes my gear ratio to 3.66....thus making the engine work harder than it should to get it moving, and in all reality, makes it almost undrivable, very uncomfortable to drive. The OP stock had probably 29" tires and 3.73s...he's got 33's, thus giving his truck the feel of driving with 3.20 or so gear ratio. Putting in deeper gears will get the truck BACK to original gearing, it will also bring the engine BACK to where it's making power to keep the damn thing moving. It's all about getting the engine in it's powerband. I suggest you read up on gear ratios and tire sizes and how they can be damaging to both performance and mileage and drivability.

Throttle body spacers don't do ANYTHING.

I got my exhaust done for less than $300?

Headers for these trucks are MORE than $300, quite a bit more actually...

yeah the gear ratio is obvious but you cool also put in a k&N cold air intake, a less restrictive exhaust (catalytic converter, etc), lots of options it just depends on which you prefer adn which you can afford but i would do the gears first..

although, i order to make your ranger a speed demon, it will take a lot of work and you just have to remember adn consider that it wasnt designed for speed or performance...

get one fo my cold air intake they are under $100 money back guaranty
then get a chip and catback exhaust

if you get a chip you can then set your speedo right, if you have a auto your tranny will then shift at the right set too

You can make more ponies, but fixing the gear ration with the larger tires will make the load on the transmission lighter. You can have all the power in the world, but if you have an incorrect gear ratio, you'll blow up driveline parts.
