true duals would mean each collector would have its own exhaust pipe; the way you worded it (with the last 2 cats removed) sounds like you just want to split the exhaust after the y pipe merge. If the cat has a downstream 02 sensor, it will throw a code if you remove the cat. 02 sims can work, but I'd recommend getting the codes cleared and tuned out

you can put the o2 sensor back in the pipe as long as you screw it into a "spark plug non-fouler" first then screw both into the pipe. that will keep the sensor from reading "bad" exhaust and throwing a code.

i put duals on my truck but what i did was i cut the pipe after the last o2 sensor and put a "muffler" single in and dual out and ran both pipes striaght back. i still have all the cats and sensors. but it sounds great! and runs better.

the reason i didnt put true duals on it is ive heard that you loose too much back pressure and loose power.

Yea... Well right now i have single 2 1/2 inch pipe from the flange then goes out right before the back tire... i gutted the first cat before the sensor and dont have a muffler... it was 50 bucks and sounds loud and ok
