I cant answer your question about reliability, but its the 4L OHV,

IIRC its 170 HP and 220 Lb feet of torque. Decently powerful for everyday driving. I hear its a good engine as well.

i turned 201k on my 95 4.0 this past week. (knock on wood), never had a water pump, timing chain, etc replaced. did the alt, trans, and tune up stuff (filters, plugs, wires). the thing that is a known problem is the trans. they aren't the best in the world.

Yeah it will have the OHV. Its a good motor reliability wise. Known issues are lower intake gaskets go bad and the heads can crack but overall its a solid motor. The last truck I had with the OHV 4.0 had 245,000 miles on it and it still ran great.

it should be on the sticker on the driver's side door, there is a how to on here for the sticker... there should also be a code engraved on the diff cover IIRC
