Default 91 OHV ticking/ knocking?

Hey all, just a quick issue. I'm not sure where to look. But just regasketed pretty much everything in my engine. And alls good except---

I've got a mild tick for the first 10 minutes of running. It tick-tick-tick s then it sort of fades out. Then it fades back up and back down. It'lll do this for a little while until i start idling at about 600. Then it's normally gone.

i agree with them you need to adjust your rockers. that should fix the problem

4.0l Ohv does not have adjustable rockers. It's rockers on a rail style what happens is the push rods wear out on the tips due to pour oiling and the fact ford didn't harden the push rods correctly.

Go to delta cam http://www.deltacam.com/ order the rocker rail kit comes with new rockers with harden seats and new harden push rods replaces that and you will be all set.

im possibly over-simplifying this, but could it be piston slap?

it could also be a rod bearing thats just starting to go bad. but these engines are noted for not having the best valve train so id almost bet that its a worn pushrod or rocker...

ya the 4.0 ohv has a rock hard bottom end, the heads up are horrible.

case in point I have around 150K+ opened the motor and there isnt even cylinder wear, can still see the cross hatch from when it was machined
