Default cruise control problems

ok guys my cruise control hasnt worked since i bought my truck three years ago. ive checked and can verifiy the following:

1. cruise control swithces in the steering wheel
2. brake pedal dump valve
3. all fuses
4. i hooked up a vacume source to the servo to see if i could get the servo to pull the cable by itself and the servo didnt do anything. According to the test instructions once i hooked up that vacume it should try to pull the cable and it didnt.

SO ive reached the conclusion of its either the servo, the cruise control throttle cable, or the amplifier which i dont exactly know where that is. is it encased in a black plastic box or a shiny silver metal box.

Any help to get this working would be great.

I could try to pull you a servo if you'd like to try another out from a junkyard

update: after manually trying to engage the servo via jumping wires nothing happened. the cable is connected. When my friend connected the wires though a slight ticking could be heard coming from the servo. When he would disconnect the wires the ticking would go away. So we think the servo is the problem and needs replacement. Any thoughts?

My thought is, if you believe the servo is bad, hit a junk yard and try another to see if it works. The toggles are good right?

yeah i got voltage from them and what not. plus the horn works. Also we ohms tested the wires from the amplifier to the servo and it all tests out so the wiring isnt the problem. will try a new servo and let you know how it goes.

update. not much done im focusing on the neutral safety switch. Seeing as i can start my truck with the clutch out and somestimes when my brother borrowed it while it is in gear as well. Now anyone who has a manual knows that shouldnt be possible. So is the faulty switch causing my cruise control system to think that the clutch is in all the time there for not lettting the cruise system engage? your thoughts please. . . . .
