Default cam on a ohv

So ive been reading on the forum that the ohv is better for mudding hauling and so forth >>>i also read that if you put a cam helps. What kind of cam would i use and what else can be done i have a good motor but im burning oil so i think she is gonna need an overhaul soon!!!

well burning oil isent good any way.. it prob just needs valve guide seals and you will be good to go. mine did it fixed it and problem went away.. as far as cams go theirs only 2 out their for the ohv 4.0 comp makes em and one is the 410 cam and the other is the 420 cam.. heres a vid of a ranger with the 420 cam.. as far as more power im sure its way better than stock but ive never seen are driven a ranger with this cam in it so i coudent tell ya.

cam should help, but the longer duration may require a bigger chamber, so perhaps a rebuild and go like 30 or 40 over...???

would this effect emissions i live in california and since here they are super strict with that i wanna be able to pass smog!!!!

couple things. its prob the valve seal like Brandon said. if your gonna pull apart your motor go order new heads. order the rocker arm kit from delta cam. you will need different length push rods for the new cam and also different lb valve springs.

also on the cams 410 cam for automatic trucks and run 420 for manual trucks. the 420 cam is to steep for the auto.

Prob gonna have to run a better quality gas as well (more $$$)

and it doesnt need to be tuned but it will have more power if its dyno tuned
