hey guys, along time ago i went through a big mud hole and splashed a lot of water onto the front hood and my truck shut off and later on overheated, the truck never was under water etc and it runs like a champ, yet my truck gets warm sometimes when it shouldn't, i have replaced the thermostat, coolant flush, air filter, oil change, spark plugs/wires, and fan clutch since the incident.

Yesterday i saw that my overflow reservoir was bone dry so i put some in it and coming home from work today and there was coolant dripping from my engine and seemed to spray all over, and the main radiator hose seemed to not be under pressure or seem very firm? my truck didn't overheat and ran fine but still concerns me

my truck has never hit the red mark but still gets warm periodically and some when im hauling stuff but nothing it cant handle, i just recently did the coolant flush, fan clutch, and thermostat so we will see but im concerned about the coolant leaking??

maybe water pump? hoses? or....im not to mechanically inclined so im a little irritated and i need to be able to rely on my truck to go up hunting and getting out of the mountains and getting there...I apologize about such a long rambling thread but im hoping someone has been in my shoes or knows of a solution. Thanks a bunch for reading.

its a 2002 4.0L V6 with 130,000 miles

when the engine is cold take a garden hose and from the inside of the engine bay spray the radiator to flush out the mud thats clogged up in the fins of the radiator. thats probably why the truck got hot the first time.

as for the leaking, look hard and see where its coming from. if its a water pump or hose then it should be an easy fix. hope that its not a head gasget as that is a common problem with aluminum engines when they get even a little hot.

I have taken it to a few places and my friend who used to be a mechanic and they have all said its not a major problem because all heat etc, eletrical, and the truck runs like a champ, so im hoping there right about not being a head gasket.

Sounds like it is a bad radiator, they are not that expensive.

update:

hose was not connected and spilling coolant, put back on but no change,

put a thermostat that opens at a lower temperature in, new serpentine belt and coolant flush/fill etc

still getting warm...

so far there is a new serpentine belt, coolant flush/fill, thermostat, and fan clutch.
