Default I'm a newbie, just picked it up on saturday

So the world of cars, trucks, and all that comes with them is nothing new to me. I've got a mazda mx6 turbo that i finally got on the road after a year in Jan and had my other mx6 i was driving for 3 years crushed......or thought as much till i passed it one day in my town.....

Anyway though i grabbed this dude. I work at a dealer and it was a former service advisors truck. Price was good (for me being an employee) and since i didn't have XXX dollars in my bank account i financed the thing and now its mine.

I'll have some pics later, its a '01 ranger 4x4 xlt. I was looking around here but found no cross reference sticky on what i can use from other models. I'm speaking mostly of exterior. The ranger has changed hardly at all since '93 and i was wanting some newer goodies.

I'm sure rear tails from the new body style are a direct bolt on but i'm just curious.

Its got a few things to replace but nothing a few dollars at the junkyard or rockauto.com won't remedy. In short, i used to have a '99 Dakota Extended cab long bed 4x2 with a 3.9L. It blew hole, it was nice for about a year and then took a dive. 3 headlight/dimmer switch assy's, foglights due to water, replacing sensors.....this was all at 50K. I would never buy another dodge after that and years later gave it to my grand parents. So i said what the hell, i've worked at ford for about 3 years in both shops, they aren't as crappy why not try one.

I gotta say i'm already hooked, there's quite a few things about the truck that i absolutely love. Its like some stuff was actually thought about before producing it.

But anyway, my name is Justin and i'll shut the hell up.

for refrence here is the front of my truck. its a 98 and im pretty sure it was the first year for this front end and i think the body lines are different.

note: rangers have 4 1/2 inch 5 lug bolt circle on the wheels. that means that most all small ford car wheels will fit and so will a lot of mopar wheels. i have explorer wheels on my truck now (15 inch with 235/75's) and it rides much much better and looks awesome!

Most anything from a third gen ranger on will fit, or can be pretty easily modified to fit. Trust me...it's wicked. You have a 4th gen, it is the first year of that front end. The 93-97 are third gens and have a different front. As I remember in 01 they changed the body again. Etc. Just search the forum, there are a ton of thing you can swap in and out on these trucks, from Mustangs, from Exploders, Super Dutys etc

Thats amazing you can use super duty stuff.

I feel like not only did i pick a rock solid truck but something as interchangeable and easy to find parts for as a honda.

Speaking of which whats the stock hp and torque specs. I can't imagine the HP is very high but this thing feels like it has a lot of torque for 4.0

wow! I wasn't expecting that. I forget what my '98 Dakota 3.9 had but i don't think it was that. Plus if it was i'm sure it was at least 500 pounds heavier than the ranger.

I've been driving it pretty much non stop since i bought it and love it. Its enough that i havent even fired a bike up. This is my last week at work so i'll probably be hauling tools and all sorts of crap home all week. Maybe i'll give it the week off after this.

Yah , I bought a 94 4x4/5spd/ 4.0 it needs a clutch and I think a shift motor on the T case. It is a rat, but I'm just gonna use it to move stuff I can't fit into my cars.
