I have a 98 Mazda B4000 and am getting a code stating that there is misfire and that the ignition control module (ICM) may be the issue. I have replaces plugs, wires, and the coil but am still getting the same code.

Since I have already replaced everything else I am assuming it's the ICM that is the problem. Is there any know way to fix the module on my own due to common failures like capacitor or resistor? I would like to fix it on my own if possible and not drop $150+ on a new ICM.

I tried searching but am limited on the results because I'm on my phone. Thanks for any help y'all can provide.

Codes are P1309 and P0340. I recently put in a new cam synchronizer unit and read that if it's not properly clocked it may be causing these codes.

I also read that the 98s do not have a ICM and that the ignition is controlled by the ECU so again it points to the cam synchro not being properly clocked.

Anyone have a similar issue where this was the fix? Going to R&R the cam synchro again this weekend to see if it fixes the issue.
