Default How do i do a proper radiator flush.

Could someone point me in the right direction for doing a full system flush on my 2006 4.0. Sorry i know this is the second post i just have to do this saturday and wanna do it correct. I'm replacing the thermostat and housing, so if there is a good order i guess to do this let me know. Thanks for the help.

P.s. "Flush for dummies" is what i need right now. School/work has my mind shot.

easiet way to do it is buy a flush and fill prestone kit it comes with all the fittings. (follow the kit instructions but mine are pretty close) First cut the heater core inlet hose and install the correct size tee from the kit. then place on the cap. then drain the radiator and system from all the fluid. then remove the radiator cap and install the piece that directs all the fluid from the radiator outlet away from the car. then hookup the hose and run the car letting water run through the system until the water is clear then remove the yellow tube and the hose. then drain the radiator agiant and refill with fresh coolant. then remove that cap in the heater core line and run the car until it comes out bright green. recap it. then run the car until it get to normal operating temperauter with all the caps on and check the coolant periodically. hope that about does it let me know how it goes!

The tee stays in the line, it just provides a place to connect the garden hose source of fresh water for the flush ( and has a cap).

So you don't replace the heater hose, only modify it. I think on my 3.0 I put the tee instead of the heater control valve as a temporary connection, then put the control valve back in when I was done with the flush. The kit is generic, not all vehicles have a spot for a temporary tee installation.

There is a back flow preventer in the kit to keep any coolant from going back into the garden hose connection. The kit was cheap, it's only a bunch of plastic parts (and not many parts, either).
