Spend the cash on fuel instead. FireRanger is right, they won't do jack for power on these trucks.

Re: Cold Air Intakes...I wanna know...
That open element intake is going to suck hot air from under the hood and hurt performance.

Why do you think i'd do something as mean as that? I just wanted to see what you had.
@will: that's a short ram with an aem brand name.

Woops, wasn't 100% sure with the first version and didn't see you edited it, my bad!
But i thought it was important to post pics because some members think a short ram is a cai, and then misinform others.

Re: Cold Air Intakes...I wanna know...
I still don't understand what the purpose of sucking in hot air from the engine bay is. This is like putting a turbo on the truck and having it run backwards.

Re: Cold Air Intakes...I wanna know...
short ram intakes brings in a bigger volume of air than a stock intake which in theory makes the air fuel ratio burn better which then get you better MPG and horsepower. thats the theory behind it at least

and they also have heat sheilds to get has much cooler air than the air comin off the engine so not all the air is hot air

They don't bring in a larger volume of air unless you've modded your engine to suck that larger volume in to begin with. That's also not how your air/fuel ratio works or how it would relate to MPG or HP. That isn't theory, that is called colorful advertising to get you to buy a product. The tornado says it will increase your HP and MPG too, this "theory" is no different.

I don't see a heat shield anywhere. I see an open filter thats going to suck in air that is hot as hell. If that was enclosed with an opening ducted to the outside (similar to the factory airbox), then you would be back to at least stock performance since it would be fresh outside air again.

Re: Cold Air Intakes...I wanna know...
a cylinder is a place of zero pressure and the pressure that is outside of the cylinder is 14.69. so when on the intake stoke which makes air come into the cylinders cuz the air is bein sucked due to the pressure difference while the fuel is being sprayed in. so if you make the air flow bigger and force more air into the cylinders hints the name short RAM intake your air fuel ratio will be different.
And the "heat shield" is the plate right behind the air filter

Re: Cold Air Intakes...I wanna know...
The stock intake is PLENTY big enough. You are NOT going to be able to get more air into the cylinder without pressurizing it, which will NOT happen with an intake. My Trans Am has a Ram Air hood with it sealed to the intake, even my setup will see NO increase in pressure. Save the money and spend it on more fuel, the CAI will make no difference in HP.

that is the theory behind it never said that it works with all stock stuff so. it would give you some power with a tuner but not much and it is not a CAI it is different
