It would depend on your application. For my uses (towing, hauling, mudding, climbing) I would suggest keeping the ohv and building on it. Cam (and associated valvetrain work), headers with a decent set of pipes behind them, and gearing. But if you are going for a light use only highway and city cruiser with no moderate work at all, get the SOHC, but then again, for the same price you could get a 5.0. Its all about what you want to do and how deep your pockets are.
