Exclamation misfires, shaky truck

my 2001 edge has been having some engine trouble. it shakes while in idle, acceleration, and constant speed. it gets real rough from 40-50 and again round 55. the story behind my truck is simple, dad bought it from a family friend (who took great care of it!) we used it for about a year, maybe year and a half, and then it sat there for close to 2 years. (had no prior problem before this) we cleaned out the tank, new fuel pump, new spark plugs, sp wires, fuel injector, complete tune up and still nothing. i took it to the mech and he said i had misfires on sparks 1,3, and 5. so he put new coil and nothing. im now getting frustrated cuz i have not found the problem. if anyone has any input, please let me know

Try cleaning the IAC and throttle body, see if that works before you spend more money, check the firing order on the coil pack too

The damage was done when you let it sit for 2 years basicly. I agree with cleaning out the throttle body, but I would also clean the upper and lower intake manifolds and throw in some Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube and Sea Foam. Basicly your engine just needs a good flushing out really.

gotta be careful about mouse nests, they can make nests in your airbox, or even chew through your air filter and make nests in there, happened to me with my older truck, good thing i caught it before i started it up.

Ok so I've cleaned out the IAC, the throttle body, checked the coil and firing order, and also checked the MAF. A neighbor that lives just down the street from me (also a mech) said its probably a valve. Although I hate to admit it, he's probably right

My trucks running great! We took it to a mech who is a good family friend and it turns out my sprockets were all screwed up. Long story short, its running so smooth I thought it turned off on me when I was idling haha

Thanks for the input, but this thread is over 2 years old and the problem has been fixed (as you can see in the above posts) plus what you said had already been done prior to getting it fixed for good.
