Default Vacuum Tank Help Please

The part should look like this:

Mine looks like this:

Because its broken, my air only comes through the defrost. My question is, will simply wrapping it sealed with duck tape solve the problem? or is this harmful? It seems this tank is only there to provide pressure. I cant find a replacement one anywhere except for one on ebay.

Honest to god I saw a factory vacuum canister that was a large tin can. I forget what it was on. About 4" in dia and 8" long. Used to get orange juice in them. It just has to be a sealed container with a volume at least what you have.

so it can be sealed? no air needs to come in?
