I dont think they make heads for 3.0L... mind you I am not rebuilding a 3.0L

a 4.0L OHV box engine from ford is over $9,000 and has to come from Germany

you should be good for atleast another 40k. just keep an eye on the #4 on the driver side and #3 on the passenger side its always that spot on the head that cracks. the spark plugs will tell you everything you need to know

Comp Cam makes it. you will want the 410 cam there is a bigger 422 cam but it IS NOT recommend for an auto trans, you cant wind it out good.

also you will need to order the bare heads no springs or valves. you need different spring rate, you will also need different push rod length, but you will still want to order Delta cam rebuilt rocker's just dont get the push rods

Call comp cam they will be able to tell you the spring rate and push rod length, they sell the springs i believe you are on your own for the push rods. also you might be able to just order the heads and get valves just no springs

All in time, I'm in no hurry. It puts along fine right now lol I know comp cams will take care of me, even if they can't get me all the parts.

This thread should be stickied. I feel as tho, with the right parts, I could go outside and do this to my truck right now. I have a feeling its either do this or do this to a 5.0 engine. lol

What did you do with the EGR valve? Just wondering.

Subscribed! Okay, now my truck is about to hit 150,000 and I would love to do this. One, how hard was it to do? Two, how long did it take you to do this? And three, where can I find the parts to do this? I might want to do all OEM. I just want a bit more quieter and much more smoother ride and another 150,000 miles onto it . Thanks. By the way, love the truck and what you did to it especially this; this is awesome!

Great picture sequence. Thank you
Can I ask a question - it looks like you might actually know the answer (instead of just guessing like every body else I've asked) :-)

Can I replace the hydraulic lifters just by removing the inlet manifold or do I have to lift the heads?

Thanks
Laurie

I dont have an EGR. JBA sells headers for EGR trucks also.

its not hard at all. it took less then 2 days. Total work time I would say about 15-16 hours working on it.

Alabama cylinder head for the heads.

advanced auto, rock auto and summit racing for everything else

you have to remove the heads, there is an over hang over the lifter area that will not allow them to come out all the way
