Updated the first post with the last of the pictures, the truck is in working order and running great. I can not believe how quiet the truck is now!

That's what mine was doing while I was driving. I ended up having the entire front suspension redone. How much fuel mileage did you get back from rebuilding the top end?

I have only driven it about 6 miles since rebuild I just finished it 4/13/11 at 10pm lol so no clue

I already have rebuilt the front suspension about a year ago. about 4 months ago it got new tie rods. 33x13.5x15 tires and 15x10 are horrible on suspension parts

Looks like you installed the cylinder head and headers as a unit. I never would have thought to do that.

Thanks for allowing us to follow your progress. May your OHV last another 150K+ miles.

So how much did those hydrolic rollers run you? I priced them at around 32 bucks EACH!

yep on the bench I had the head and installed the spark plugs, and headers on the bench. makes life a hell of alot easier. I also took off the old heads with the exhaust manifolds on them.

I hope it last another 150k, block wise the bores are perfect so I fixed the weak link in the upper end of the motor!

Ford I guess in all there wisdom made the OHV a roller motor. I have read a few rebuilds on this motor and all of them had collapsed lifters. So I decided to just order them all and replace them so I dont have to worry about it later on.

Yes they are VERY VERY expansive and only sold individual, advanced auto had the best deal $36.99 each. then 20% off the order and Free shipping. I found them cheaper but not free shipping so this ended up being cheaper. so with tax to my door shipped it was $376.41

This isn't a cheap rebuild by any means. You don't have a price break down do you? If I blow mine up it's between a rebuild and a 5.0 swap, I'm going to see what's cheap lol

Kool. Yeah the 33's are really hard on the front suspension. Mine had to have new everything period, brakes and all. It cost about $1,200 in all but I had some other stuff done too.

That's not too bad considering what a new motor from Ford would cost. My 3.0 short block assembly when the first one dropped a rod was over $4,000 bucks. The complete motor just about gave me a coronary, $7,000 bucks.

I'll have to check these guys out myself when I go to have mine rebuilt. Cylinder heads are hard to come by for my 3.0.
