thump noise
hey guys, I just bought a new ranger not too long ago and i got around 6k on it and i'm hearing a thump every once in a while from the engine bay. It's not that loud but when it does happen, it makes the thump every two minutes or so and the rpms go up when it happens. I only notice it when i am at a idle or going at slow speeds. If i had to make a guess maybe it could be a sensor acting up. Besides that truck is running great without problems. Is this something i should be worried about.

Your AC compressor will still kick on and off. That is most likely the sound you are hearing.

yeah, defrost uses the a/c compressor to dehumidify the air it puts into the cab. that's how it gets rid of the condensation built up in there. That's probably what it is, nothing to worry about.

thanks guys, i lefted the window defroster off today and no noise. I am just shocked that it was so loud. Now that i think about my old car did it aswell but not as loud and not as often
