Cruse control will do better on long trips with MPG because if you only use your foot, you will be feathering the pedal most of the time either adjusting speed, or going up or down hills, CC will smooth that out, reducing the feathering, reducing the wasted gas.
I have an UltraGuage, i will say it will help if you want to see how to change driving habits.
On my 3.0 i'm getting about 19. Meanwhile I'm lifted and have somewhat bigger tires, while towing. Its not impossible to get good gas mileage on these trucks, you just have to know how. (about 170 mi on half a tank)
