Default SCT Tuning Products

Has anyone here actually used the SF3 or X3 for your 4.0 with happy results.

I have repeately asked SCT for information and they aren't even bothering to respond. This normally sends out red flags in of itself but then again maybe they actually get too many emails to keep up.

Looking more for mpgs at this point but quite often you can get at least subtle HP and Torque gains under heavy throttle while still achieving better than stock mpg numbers under light throttle with an appropriate tune.

Will NOT ante up until I can get either SCT or someone that's done it to tell me what to expect?

thanks,

Thx, I'll give him a shout. SCT has completely ignored me which naturally sets off red flags.

Bought a Hypertech Chip years ago for an Olds and it did nothing so I did a sumcheck on it and it was the same damn chip as the stock one.

Need to find someone you can trust.

If you can't trust a guy that advertises with a cartoon skull with an eye-patch, who can you trust?

talk to james henson at henson performance.
he does alot of tuning with mustangs, and also is great with rangers and explorers.
he responds to emails within a day, and is very helpful and knowledgeable.
i have worked with him for my tuning, and am very pleased.

Ended up going to Mike at 5 star tuning. http://www.5startuning.com/

Got the X3 today with three tunes:

1) 15% performance increase maintaining current mpg for 91 octane.
2) 10-12HP increase with 1-2mpg increase on 87 octane.
3) 2-3mpg economy tune on 87 octane.

Loaded the economy tune since that's what I am more interested in now and am most impressed with the fact that this economy tune has REALLY cleaned up how smooth the engine runs and even starts for that matter. Only has 17K miles on it and didn't really notice how rough it had been starting and running until I loaded this tune, started and drove it. Since the gas mileage has been horrible since I got it I suspect that is about to change as well just based on how much smoother the engine is running.

Will update later on mpgs once I burn up a tank of gas.

Just curious given your extensive mods what your Ranger does to 60 and in the 1/4?

I didn't buy mine for this purpose - literally just a utility truck.

Got an ole' 442 that hits 60 in 5.2 and the quarter in 13.4 just because I have NO traction. Still has the factory suspension, rear end, wheels, and 60 series tires on it. Old school custom big block Olds 400HP/500lb.ft. in a way too heavy car. But, I like it.

Nice, I wish I had a tuner- just to pricey right now. Why dont people go around whoring their tuner? Can they be used on more than one truck? If so I would charge people like $20-$30 and flash their truck with my tuner and it would pay for itself.

Will this make my Check engine light come on if I install any type of tuner?
