I'm sure this has been covered, just tired of looking page after page for it. I have a 97 ranger 2.3 5 speed 4x2 that I want to swap in a 4.0 out of a 96 explorer 4x4. I know it will bolt right in. I will need to find the correct 5 speed and possibly a driveshaft. I plan on swapping out the power seats, tilt colum, cruise control, radiator, engine, 8.8 rearend and drivers side door if it matches, and the power mirrors just to get me started. Here are my questions..
1. Will this be a true plug and play swap? I will have access to the entire explorer that is complete.
2. with a factory 5 speed that came behind a 4.0, would the exsisting crossmember work for the transmission.
3. Will the exsisting driveshaft from the ranger work with the new transmission and the 8.8 rearend from the explorer??
