mpg
have a friend who wants me to buy something called a fuel shark he says it works he tried tried something called fuel doctor that did not but he says the shark dose anyone know for sure cant find anything on the net whats the avg mpg for a 01 4x4 ranger with auto trans getting 12-15 in city 17-19 at 55 mph

most of those "chips" and such do absolutely nothing in a vehicle with a PCM. You can get your PCM tuned by a professional (or hand held tuner) and that will usually help a bit (if you have mods like headers, exhaust the benefits will be even greater from a tune).

The numbers you posted above are normal for a truck with a V6. What did your friend expect? 28 mpg? If so, he is delusional. Tell them to trade it in for a four banger if they want numbers like that. Even then, they will be pushing it depending on how they drive and the terrain they are driving in. I'm lucky if I see 24 but the average is 21-22 with my 2.5L four cylinder.
