Exclamation Problem on the Way to Work today!!

So on my way to work today, my truck was driving fine until I had to slow down or come to a complete stop.. It would start vibrating/jumping really bad like it wanted to die, it never did, but I didn't like what was happening. It was fine in Park, Neutral, and Reverse, just not when stopped in Drive... I had my IAC changed out maybe a lil over a year ago so I dont think it will be that again..

Any ideas.. Any input would help...

Thanks

What makes the problem go away? Just adding any amount of throttle over idle?

I've heard Fuel Filter which I had replaced in '06 and Carbon buildup in the Throttle Body..

Well do the usual idle problem culprits....
- Clean the IAC
- Clean the MAF
- Clean the TB
- Replace the fuel filter

If none of that helps, plugs. Motorcraft or Autolite brands only!!!!

might want to take a quick peek at the egr valve also, Mine had the top rotted right off and was effecting the idle, it ran fine while moving tho.

Don't love that shit. "Hmm lets what's wrong under here today. Oh look, an obviously critical component rotted and fell off. Nice".

IAC a year ago... fuel filter in 06, plugs and wires 2 years ago... do em again. That's why it's called regular maintenance, lol. I'd just do it all at once and start a clean slate.

yeah, well when I got the truck it had this problem, I just figured tune up basic things. Got home and was changing plugs then noticed it. The whole top just lifted right off of it lol. I took it off and plugged the hole in the intake with one of those rubber deals that expand when tightend. That fixed the idle issue so that was the problem!

Vacuum leak? Although I would expect that to show in any idle situation.

A trick i used to use at the ford dealer i worked at was tap on the iac with a small hammer not to hard and it would sometimes clear up. carbon will build up on the pendulum inside the iac causing it to stick tapping it would break it free sometimes that would fix it for a couple of weeks but it still needed cleaned or replaced. second the idle is set lower for drive and putting it in park and neutral kicks up the iac a little. it is possible it is a vacuum leak and like you already have heard it would normally be show its ugly face all the time. u might try taking it to a local parts store and have the codes checked and see if that leads you some where before you spend a bunch of money.
