Default Question about oil?
Is it okay to run motorcraft 5w 30 full synthetic in a 2002 ranger 4.0L?

when i took it in for service the dealership was drilling me with questions of why i was running a full synthetic in it?

My 02 4.0, says 5W-30 only on the oil cap, and the owners manual states 5W-30, the warranty would be void if you used another weight oil.
I ran the break in oil for 500 miles, drined it and ran a name brand for the 9500 miles, then went to synthetic.
I you go to synthetic, you can't go back unless you rebuild the engin.

yeah, why would you have to rebuild? just have to do a couple of oil changes...

Best suggestion: go to synthetic for 2 oil changes then go back to conventional oil. It won't hurt anything, just going to rattle a little in the lifters for the rest of it's life.
Try it and find out for your selves, others have.

All I know is I have personally switched back and forth before and I've never had any problems....

ya ive swtiched more than a couple times because the advance auto parts by my house NEVER has the right oil, my engine is running great
